Welcome to our Neighborhood!

March 2011

Dear Residents,

SAVE THE DATE: The DRC Spring Clean-up is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 2. Details coming soon!

Tax Relief Assistance for Eligible Seniors and Disabled Residents of Lee District will be available on Tuesday, March 8, and Thursday, March 10 from 10-2 pm in the community room of the Franconia Governmental Center at 6121 Franconia Road.

Please keep your front porch lights in working order and leave them on after dark. Leaving these lights on uses a negligible amount of electricity and helps contribute to the safety of our neighborhood. Recently some cars on Deer Run Court were vandalized by thieves. None of the victimized vehicles were damaged, so they were likely left unlocked. Lock cars and remove or hide all valuables (GPS units, satellite radio units, iPod/mp3 players, purses, wallets, sunglasses, etc). Also, hide cables, chargers, mounts, or anything else that could indicate that a valuable electronic device is in the car.

Dear Residents,

I recently contacted Greg Kottemann, Crime Prevention Officer with the Fairfax County Police- Mount Vernon Station, regarding the car break-ins in our neighborhood. He told me that he had 8 reports of thefts in our neighborhood and the Vantage neighborhood. All 8 occurred on the night between 12/26 and 12/27, and all involved items being stolen from unlocked cars. While these crimes were unnecessary and unfortunate, it appears as though they were a one-time occurrence and not a sign of a larger crime problem. Please continue to follow the previously posted safety advice, and we will ensure that Deer Run Crossing remains a safe place to live.

If you have any additional concerns about this matter, please contact me at president@deerruncrossing.org.

Sincerely,
Bryan Ault,
President, DRCHOA

New parking regulations have been approved by Fairfax County and will be enforced in our community for dead cars in lots (towing at owner's expense). Read regulations at Inoperable Vehicles.

The next DRCHOA Board Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 7:00 pm — 8:00 pm, at 6870 Deer Run Drive. All HOA members are invited to attend and observe elected board members conduct community business. Meeting agendas are set to provide time for any association member to present new items or discuss any current or continuing agenda item.

Sincerely,

Bryan T. Ault
